Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Quest Mingle Studios Ltd ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on questmingle.com. It is a standalone document — you do not need to read our Privacy Policy first, though we recommend it for a fuller picture of how we handle your data.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember certain information about your visit — for example, your preferences or which pages you've seen. Similar technologies we use include localStorage and sessionStorage (browser storage areas), which work like cookies but are never sent to our servers. Where this policy says "cookies", it covers all these technologies unless stated otherwise.
2. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies to keep Quest Mingle running smoothly, remember your preferences (such as accepting our age gate), and understand how visitors use our games so we can improve them. We do not use cookies to track you across unrelated websites or to build advertising profiles without your consent.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site running — session handling, security, age-gate confirmation, cookie-consent preference storage. | __age_ok (age gate), __cc_v1 (cookie consent choice) | Session to 12 months |
| Performance / analytics | Anonymous, aggregated traffic measurement to understand which pages and games are most popular. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies in the traditional sense but does process request data. | __cf_bm (Cloudflare bot management, short-lived) | Up to 30 days |
| Functional | Remembers your UI preferences — for example, game-widget volume settings and mascot animation choices — so you don't have to reset them each visit. | localStorage keys set by our game widgets (no network transmission) | Up to 12 months |
| Advertising / targeting | When you arrive via a paid advertisement (e.g. a Google Ads campaign), the ad network may set a cookie to attribute your visit to that campaign. These cookies are only set with your consent and only when the relevant ad network has been engaged. | Google Ads conversion cookies (_gcl_au), Microsoft Advertising UET cookies — only if you have consented and arrive via a paid channel. | Up to 13 months |
4. Lawful Basis (UK GDPR + PECR)
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), our strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of legitimate interest — the site cannot function without them and no consent is required. All other cookie categories — performance/analytics, functional, and advertising — are set only on the basis of your explicit consent. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 5 below), and withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing before that point.
5. How to Manage Your Cookies on Quest Mingle
When you first visit Quest Mingle you will see a cookie consent banner with two choices: "Accept all" (enables performance, functional, and advertising cookies in addition to strictly necessary ones) and "Essential only" (strictly necessary cookies only). Your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key __cc_v1.
To change your choice later, you can clear localStorage.__cc_v1 using your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage → questmingle.com), or simply clear all site data from your browser settings. The banner will reappear on your next visit.
6. How to Manage Cookies in Your Browser
You can also control cookies directly in your browser settings. Here are links to the official guidance pages for the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari (macOS)
- Apple Safari (iOS)
- Microsoft Edge
- Brave Browser
- Opera
Please note that blocking all cookies may prevent some features of Quest Mingle from working correctly, including saving your age-gate confirmation.
7. Third-Party Cookies and Services
The following third-party providers may set cookies or process data when you visit Quest Mingle with consent:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — provides our CDN, DDoS protection, and privacy-friendly Web Analytics. Cloudflare may set
__cf_bm(bot management) for security. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. - Google LLC — if you arrive via a Google Ads campaign and have consented, Google may set advertising attribution cookies. We use Google Ads only for campaign attribution; we do not use Google Analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Corporation — if you arrive via a Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) campaign and have consented, Microsoft may set UET (Universal Event Tracking) cookies for attribution. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC header indicating that you do not wish to be tracked, we treat this as a withdrawal of consent for analytics and advertising cookies — equivalent to selecting "Essential only" on our banner. We do not currently implement a technical response to the older "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser header, as there is no agreed standard for how sites should interpret it; however, we will not use DNT as a reason to set non-essential cookies where GPC is present.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our own practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. We recommend checking back periodically.
